Chantry Music Room

Formerly a recital room, ballet studio and granary, the Music Room has a unique history.

Now, the Music Room provides a luxurious space for a romantic get-away.

On winter evenings you can play the piano, watch a film using our home cinema system and snuggle by the woodburner.

In the summer, the light streams in through the historic stained glass windows and you can picnic in our 30 acres of gardens and meadows, or head to the beach - Bantham is only 4 miles away.

Everything you need to settle in

The kitchen has a dishwasher, induction hob, electric oven, microwave & coffee machine. We provide bed-linen, towels, tea-towels and organic fair trade tea and coffee.

About Chantry

A warm welcome awaits you when you arrive at Chantry.

We have 30 acres of lawns, orchards, walled gardens and fields - all of which you are free to explore.

We have been welcoming people here since 2011 and love how many have returned year after year. We have a smallholding with chickens, geese, goats, and a flock of very friendly and inquisitive sheep. The orchard we planted when we arrived is now bearing wonderful fruit and the 6000 trees we planted in 2023 are taking off. There's plenty to explore right here on our land and from the footpaths leading from it. Chantry is a peaceful place with good starry skies at night and birdsong in the day.

You'll find lots of books, games and DVDs to borrow from our little 'lending library' and barbeques and croquet sets for sunny days.

A smallholding in the making

Depending on the seasons, we have fresh produce available for visitors, including eggs from our chickens, fruit from our orchard and vegetables from the veg patch.

Chantry is set in the rolling hills between Kingsbridge and Totnes in the verdant South Hams.

Bantham & Bigbury beaches are less than 5 miles and there are wild coves and miles of coastal paths to explore. The rugged beauty of Dartmoor is only a short drive. There's eating out and shopping to be had in Kingsbridge, Modbury, Salcombe, Totnes and Dartmouth - all within easy reach. We can recommend many pubs, restaurants and other places to visit.
